Mold remediation in St. Louis

The Flood Team helps homeowners, businesses, and property managers with mold inspection, containment, removal, moisture control, drying, and mold prevention after leaks, flooding, sewage backups, or hidden water damage.

If you see mold or smell a musty odor, avoid disturbing the affected area until it is inspected.

What is mold remediation?

Mold remediation is the process of finding the moisture source, containing the affected area, removing mold-damaged materials when needed, cleaning affected surfaces, drying the space, and helping reduce the chance of mold returning.

Mold can grow after water damage, flooded basements, roof leaks, pipe leaks, sewage backups, appliance leaks, or hidden moisture behind walls and under flooring. The goal is not only to remove visible mold, but also to control the moisture problem that allowed it to grow.

Signs you may have a mold problem

Mold is not always visible at first. It can hide behind drywall, under flooring, inside cabinets, near baseboards, or in damp basement and crawl space areas.

Musty odor

A strong musty smell can be a sign of trapped moisture or hidden mold, even when the surface looks dry.

Visible mold spots

Dark, green, black, white, or fuzzy spots on walls, ceilings, trim, flooring, or contents may need inspection.

Recent water damage

Leaks, flooding, sewage backups, roof leaks, or appliance overflows can create the moisture mold needs to grow.

Stains or peeling materials

Water stains, bubbling paint, soft drywall, warped flooring, or damaged baseboards may point to hidden moisture.

Basement or crawl space moisture

Damp basements and crawl spaces can hold moisture and create conditions where mold can spread.

Mold keeps coming back

If mold returns after cleaning, the real moisture source may still need to be found and fixed.

Common causes of mold after water damage

Mold usually starts when moisture is left behind. Fast drying and moisture control are important after any water damage situation.

Our mold remediation process includes

The Flood Team helps move the property from mold concern to inspection, containment, removal, drying, and prevention support.

01.

Inspection and moisture check

We inspect the affected area, look for visible mold, check for moisture, and identify where water or humidity may be coming from.

02.

Containment

The affected area may need to be contained to help reduce the chance of mold spreading to clean areas during the remediation process.

03.

Mold removal and cleanup

Affected surfaces are cleaned, and damaged porous materials may need to be removed depending on the severity of the mold and water damage.

04.

Air cleaning and odor control

Air cleaning and odor treatment may be used to help improve the condition of the affected space during cleanup.

05.

Drying and moisture control

Drying equipment and moisture checks help reduce the moisture that allowed mold to grow in the first place.

06.

Repair and restoration support

After mold remediation, damaged drywall, flooring, trim, paint, or other materials may need repair or reconstruction.

07.

Insurance documentation support

Photos, moisture readings, affected material notes, and scope details can help make the insurance process easier to manage.

What should you do if you find mold?

Do not disturb the affected area, avoid spraying or scrubbing mold without guidance, check for moisture, and book a mold inspection before the problem spreads.

Avoid disturbing it

Scrubbing, sanding, or cutting mold-damaged materials can spread particles into the air.

Do not cover it up

Painting over mold or hiding it behind repairs does not solve the moisture problem.

Look for the water source

Check for leaks, stains, damp areas, wet flooring, or musty smells nearby.

Call for inspection

A professional inspection can help determine the affected area and the next step.

The Flood team did a very good job for the mitigation. We did not have any issue after the job was done. Blake gave an estimate, and final price was the same. We had another company estimated, and told us a loose estimate, may be more after the job is done and we have to sign that agreement. We didn't like that. Blake responded very quick and came in a few days after we signed the contract. He kept his words about days when he will be at the house. The other company told us at least a week or more. Blake's estimate was reasonable compared to the other company. He also gave us some knowledge about things which are covered under our insurance. I highly recommend him and the flood team. We will use them again if needed in the future.

The Flood Team did a very professional job mitigating the water from our 900 square feet basement. One of the rooms was finished, and they were able to save the carpet. They were able to tow away our damaged goods the same day and carried them all upstairs. They bricked all our furniture for the drying process and promptly and accurately recorded saturation eta the following days to be sure the basement was drying as expected. When the insurance adjuster came to view the damage, a flood team representative came back out to be here in case there were any technical questions about the mitigation process they executed.

Reached out to Flood Team and Thor came the same day. He was professional, knowledgeable, considerate and a hard worker. Once Thor determined the areas that water existed underneath the underlying floors, he pulled up all damaged flooring. He also took extra care when moving my furniture, he strategically set up humidifiers and industrial fans on two floors to speed up the drying process. He checked in daily to give updates. Highly recommend
