Clear backups before damage spreads

Drain cleaning and hydro-jetting in St. Louis

The Flood Team helps homeowners, businesses, and property managers with clogged drains, main line clogs, hydro-jetting, sewer camera inspections, recurring backups, and drain issues that can lead to water damage or sewage cleanup.

If water or sewage is backing up into the property, avoid the affected area and call for help quickly.

What is drain cleaning and hydro-jetting?

Drain cleaning helps remove blockages from sinks, tubs, showers, floor drains, main lines, and sewer lines so water can flow properly again.

Hydro-jetting uses high-pressure water to clear grease, sludge, debris, roots, and buildup from inside the line. It is often used for stubborn clogs, recurring backups, main line issues, and drains that keep slowing down after basic cleaning.

For The Flood Team, drain cleaning connects directly with water damage prevention. A clogged drain, floor drain backup, or main sewer backup can quickly turn into sewage cleanup, basement flooding, odor problems, and property damage.

When do you need drain cleaning?

Drain problems often start small, but slow drains and recurring clogs can become serious backups if they are ignored.

Drains are slow

If water comes back through a drain, tub, shower, toilet, or basement floor drain, the line may be blocked.

Water is backing up

If water comes back through a drain, tub, shower, toilet, or basement floor drain, the line may be blocked.

You smell sewer odor

Sewer smells near drains, basements, bathrooms, or utility areas may point to a drain or sewer line problem.

The clog keeps coming back

Recurring backups may need deeper cleaning, camera inspection, hydro-jetting, or main line support.

Multiple drains are affected

When several drains slow down at the same time, the issue may be in the main line instead of one fixture.

Basement floor drain backs up

A basement drain backup can spread dirty water, create odors, and may require cleanup, sanitizing, and drying.

Common causes of clogged drains and backups

Different clogs need different solutions. Some drain issues are simple, while others may point to a main line or sewer problem.

Grease and sludge buildup

Grease, soap, oils, and buildup can narrow the line over time and cause slow drains or recurring clogs.

Wipes and debris

Wipes, paper products, hair, hygiene items, and debris can block drains and create backups.

Tree root intrusion

Tree roots can grow into sewer lines, catch debris, and cause repeated backups or main line clogs.

Main line blockage

A blockage in the main line can affect multiple drains and may cause wastewater to back up into the property.

Damaged or aging pipes

Cracked, bellied, collapsed, or old sewer lines may cause slow drainage, backups, or repeated blockages.

Stormwater and overloaded systems

Heavy rain and overwhelmed drainage systems can contribute to basement drain backups or sewer-related problems.

Our drain cleaning support includes

The Flood Team helps clear clogs, investigate recurring backups, reduce the chance of sewage issues, and connect cleanup support when water or waste has already entered the property.

Clogged drain clearing

Hydro-jetting

High-pressure water cleaning to help remove grease, sludge, roots, debris, and buildup from stubborn or recurring drain problems.

Main line cleaning

Support for main sewer line clogs that affect multiple drains, basement drains, or the full property.

Sewer camera inspection

Camera inspection can help identify roots, breaks, buildup, collapsed areas, bellies, or repeated blockage points inside the line.

Recurring backup support

If the same drain keeps backing up, we help look deeper into the cause instead of treating only the surface clog.

Drain backup cleanup

If water or sewage has backed up into the property, cleanup, sanitizing, odor treatment, drying, and restoration support may be needed.

Tree root intrusion support

Tree roots in sewer lines can cause repeated clogs and backups. Hydro-jetting and camera inspection can help identify the next step.

Insurance documentation support

If a backup causes property damage, photos, moisture readings, affected material notes, and cleanup details can help support the claim process.

Hydro-jetting vs basic drain cleaning

Not every clogged drain needs hydro-jetting, but some backups need more than basic clearing.

Basic drain cleaning

Basic drain cleaning may help clear a simple blockage from a sink, tub, toilet, or drain line.

Best for: Single clogs, slow drains, small blockages, and simple drain issues.

Hydro-jetting

Hydro-jetting helps clean the inside of the pipe using high-pressure water to remove buildup, grease, roots, and debris.

Best for: Recurring backups, main line clogs, heavy grease buildup, roots, and drains that keep slowing down.

Camera inspection

Camera inspection helps identify what is happening inside the line before choosing the right solution.

Best for: Repeated clogs, unknown blockage locations, suspected roots, broken pipes, or main sewer line issues.

What should you do if a drain backs up?

Stop using the affected plumbing, avoid contact with dirty water, keep people away from the backup, and call The Flood Team before the damage spreads.

Stop using nearby plumbing

Do not keep flushing toilets, running sinks, using showers, or running appliances if water is backing up.

Avoid contaminated water

Drain backups can contain bacteria, waste, or dirty water, especially if the sewer line is involved.

Protect the area

Keep children, pets, customers, tenants, or staff away from the affected space.

Call for drain help

The line may need clearing, hydro-jetting, camera inspection, or main line support.

Document damage if safe

Take photos of standing water, affected drains, damaged materials, and nearby rooms if you may need insurance documentation.

Our drain cleaning process

The right process depends on whether the issue is a simple clog, recurring backup, main line blockage, or sewage-related emergency.

01.

Inspect the issue

We review the affected drain, backup location, odors, water movement, and whether multiple fixtures are involved.

02.

Identify the likely cause

The issue may be grease, debris, roots, a main line clog, pipe damage, or a sewer-related backup.

03.

Clear the blockage

Drain cleaning or hydro-jetting may be used depending on the type and severity of the blockage.

04.

Check for recurring problems

If the clog keeps returning, camera inspection may help identify roots, breaks, buildup, or line damage.

05.

Clean affected areas

If water or sewage has entered the property, cleanup, sanitizing, drying, and odor treatment may be needed.

06.

Recommend next steps

We explain whether the issue appears resolved or whether additional plumbing, sewer, cleanup, or restoration support is needed.

The Flood team did a very good job for the mitigation. We did not have any issue after the job was done. Blake gave an estimate, and final price was the same. We had another company estimated, and told us a loose estimate, may be more after the job is done and we have to sign that agreement. We didn't like that. Blake responded very quick and came in a few days after we signed the contract. He kept his words about days when he will be at the house. The other company told us at least a week or more. Blake's estimate was reasonable compared to the other company. He also gave us some knowledge about things which are covered under our insurance. I highly recommend him and the flood team. We will use them again if needed in the future.

The Flood Team did a very professional job mitigating the water from our 900 square feet basement. One of the rooms was finished, and they were able to save the carpet. They were able to tow away our damaged goods the same day and carried them all upstairs. They bricked all our furniture for the drying process and promptly and accurately recorded saturation eta the following days to be sure the basement was drying as expected. When the insurance adjuster came to view the damage, a flood team representative came back out to be here in case there were any technical questions about the mitigation process they executed.

Reached out to Flood Team and Thor came the same day. He was professional, knowledgeable, considerate and a hard worker. Once Thor determined the areas that water existed underneath the underlying floors, he pulled up all damaged flooring. He also took extra care when moving my furniture, he strategically set up humidifiers and industrial fans on two floors to speed up the drying process. He checked in daily to give updates. Highly recommend
