Hello everyone. Recently there has been a lot of rain and flash flooding, and we wanted to give you a few reminders about how to protect yourself from water damage during these severe weather times.
1. If you have a sump pump please make sure you are using it in accordance with the factory directions. It may sound silly, but making sure it is plugged in and set up properly could save you from a costly home flood.
2. If you’re in an area where flooding occurs think about moving your valuables away from areas where they could get wet. Preventative measures are the easiest and cheapest way to protect your valuable belongings.
3. If you have the ability to get it done soon consider having your pipes checked for proper flow. Sewer back flows are a leading cause of water damage in homes. Having a plumber make sure your pipes and valves are in proper working condition is a great to prevent water damage.
4. Lastly, just stay alert. You can’t always stop all water damage. Mother nature has a way of causing problems that we can’t control. So at the first sign of water damage call a professional. Catching these problems early will keep your water damage loss from getting more costly.
